Meeting Michael

Meeting Mike....

July 30, 2011 Colt had wanted to meet Michael before he left for his mission. He knew that if he didn't meet him now he wouldn't be able to meet or have the chance to know him until Mike got home from his mission. So he made the arrangements with Grandma Luana and Uncle Ted to meet Mike.

I was so excited because I thought I was going to get the chance to meet him also, but in talking to my uncle I found that Mike's dad was not ready for him to meet me yet. So my first response was that Colt could go by himself to meet him because I didn't think I could handle being that close and not seeing him. Pat and I planned on going hiking far away from Salt Lake. I didn't want to be tempted to crash the reunion that Colt and Mike were going to have. After praying I had decided that I needed to be there, I had a great sense of peace that I would have the strength to be strong. Pat, Racyn and I went to watch the Joesph Smith movie while Colt and Mike talked. After the movie they were still talking and so we decided that we would go to the opposite visitor center than the one they were at. On our way to the visitor center we stopped at a fountain, I threw a dime in and wished that I would have the chance to meet or at least get to see Mike. We then went to the Deseret Book store across the street from the temple and shopped trying to kill time until we heard from Colt. On our way back to the temple grounds Pat got a call from Colt. Colt asked "do you think mom is ready to meet Mike" he immediately responded yes. Pat was standing next to me when I made that wish and he knew what I wished for. We met in front of the Joesph Smith building. It was amazing. We couldn't have picked a better place for a reunion. The spirit was so strong. Mike gave me a hug and we decided to go get some dinner. We all talked, Pat and Mikes dad Dan had a lot in common. Mikes step-mom Mary and I are both nurse managers so we also had a lot in common. (Mikes adoptive mother passed away when Mike was about 9 years old) Mike kept looking at me, he and I have the same nose and eyes. Chantz and him look so much alike. Colt says "he looks like Chantz on steroids" he is about 6'4 and a little over 200 pounds. He is built just like Corbin but taller. When it was time to leave we all gave hugs, Mike hugged me so tight I didn't want to let go! I have missed him so much and I finally had the feeling that I was finally complete. I remember Mike's dad saying I wish Jill (adoptive mother) could have been here. I responded that she was! I knew without a dought in my mind that she had a hand in this reunion. After we left we hooked up on facebook and texted each other every day. When we got home I opened his baby book and what a relief, it was the first time it didn't hurt to look through it. Mike and I are very close now. We text frequently and he was able to come and stay the weekend with us for Colt's farewell. He and his brothers have had an immediate bond. They have so much in common, it is crazy how much heredity overrides environment. I am looking forward to being as much a part of Mikes life that he will allow me to me. What an amazing blessing!
